Mirhashem Hosseini from Iran claimed a gold medal in men’s taekwondo 63kg in the 2018 Asian Games underway in Indonesia.

Iran Press/Asia: Mirhashem Hosseini defeated  Zhao Shuai of China 17-11 in the final match and claimed a gold medal.

Saeid Rajabi claimed a gold medal in men’s taekwondo +80kg on the 3rd day of the competition. and became Iran's forth gold medalist.

Rajabi overcame his Uzbek opponent Dmitriy Shokin in the golden round. Taekwondo poomsae practitioner Koorosh Bakhtiyar won Iran's firstsilver medal.

Iranian freestyle wrestlers have previously won three gold medals in the Games.

Hassan Yazdani (86kg), Alireza Karimi (97kg) and Parviz Hadi (125kg) won three gold medals.

Iran is currently competing in the 2018 Asian Games in Jakarta and Palembang, Indonesia with 378 athletes. Iran has competed at the Asian Games since the first event in 1951 Delhi, and the best achievement was in 1974, when the country hosted the event in Tehran, by ranked second with the acquisition of 36 gold, 28 silver and 17 bronze medals.  At the last edition in Incheon, the country wrapped up its campaign with 57 medals in all - 21 gold, 18 silver and 18 bronze

And so far in the 2018 Asian Games Medal Standings: China sit at the top with 35 gold and a total of 75 medals. Japan, South Korea and Indonesia are 2nd to 4th respectively, while Iran stand in 5th place with 4 gold medals, 3 silvers and 6 bronze.
