Iranian President visits Kazakhstan to attend the summit meeting of the Caspian Sea littoral states.

Iran press / iran: Hassan Rouhani plans to hold talks with Kazakhstan’s President Nursultan Nazarbayev.

He wants to participate in the Caspian Sea summit in which a number of important and strategic documents for cooperation will be signed by the five countries bordering the sea.

The president will also hold bilateral meetings with Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev and a number of other heads of state to discuss relations, presidential office media department chief Parviz Esmaeili said. 

The fifth summit of the heads of Caspian littoral states is slated for Sunday. The summit will bring together the heads of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Russia, Iran and Turkmenistan to discuss and sign the Convention on the Legal Status of the Caspian Sea.

The previous Caspian ministerial meeting was held on 4-5 Sep. 2017 in Moscow during which the Convention on the Legal Status of the Caspian Sea was drawn up. It is expected that the Convention will be signed at the Aktau summit on Aug. 12.
