Iran press/ Iran-  North Korea's foreign minister arrived in Tehran on Tuesday and met with his Iranian counterpart Mohammad Javad Zarif and President Hassan Rouhani.

Speaking in a meeting with the foreign minister of North Korea Ri Yong Ho on Wednesday, President Hassan Rouhani referred to amicable Tehran-Pyongyang relations in the past decades and said: “Iran and North Korea have always had close views and supported each other in many critical international points and the global community”.

Ri Yong-ho said for his part that Washington’s withdrawal from the Iran nuclear deal and the subsequent reimposition of the bans that had been lifted based on the multilateral agreement are wrongful and in contravention of international regulations.

Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and his North Korean counterpart Ri Yong Ho also held talks in Tehran on Tuesday , to strengthen relations between the two countries.

Last time, North Korea's foreign minister visited Tehran, he was accompanying a North Korean delegation to take part in President Hassan Rouhani’s inauguration ceremony.

This is the first time a senior North Korean official visits Iran since June 12, when US President Donald Trump held a historic summit with the Asian country's leader Kim Jong-un in Singapore.

The North Korean delegation's visit came as Washington re-imposed its sanctions against Iran, which had been lifted under a 2015 multilateral nuclear deal.
