Spokesman of the Interior Ministry said on Sunday that the bulk of calls for protest rallies in Iran over the past month had originated from outside the country.

Iranpress / Iran : Salman Sameti added that foreigners have masterminded the recent chaotic situation in the country in protest to inflation, deplorable status of living standards being spread by cyberspace.

Those spreading such rumors wished to get fish in troubled waters, but to no avail as the number of people who attended such gatherings was very minor, Salman Sameti added.

Some people were protesting to the country's tough economic situation but the majority one sought chaos under pretext to economic problems, Sameti added.

He expressed the hope that such problems would be resolved through negotiations.

The Interior Ministry expects people to follow their demands through legal channels, he said.

Elaborating about the role of social media campaigns for illegal demonstrations in Iran, Samani said, Those parties circulating such messages expected to win approval in many cities, but in practice, we saw limited cases of demonstrations.

The Iranian official gave an assurance that efforts were underway to control the protests and handle the situation with “minimum tensions and through dialogue,” adding that authorities were "determined to resolve people’s livelihood problems and ensure economic stability."

Law will respond to those violating the country's rules and regulations through storming public assets, Sameti said.

The comments came after limited protests were held in the Iranian cities of Shiraz, Isfahan, Ahvaz and Karaj over the past few days against economic conditions. The protests have been largely described as peaceful without any major instance of violence.

Citizens are anxious over high prices and the collapse of the rial, which has lost nearly two-thirds of its value in six months and resulted in the rise of commodity prices.

Iranian officials believe that US and foreign countries are the planners of such plots,

Speaking at a one-day conference on human rights and human dignity on Sunday morning, Ayatollah Sadegh Amoli Larijani, emphasized that so-called champions of human rights in the West have had a muted response to the gross violations of the human rights of the Bahraini people, but they have been vociferous in their support of human rights of rioters in Iran -- people who loot, smash things, and set fire to shops and retailers in Tehran.

However , when it comes to Iran, so-called Western supporters of human rights are backing rioters -- people who smash things and set fire to vehicles and shops.  They back the "human rights of the rioters". The duplicity and deceit of Westerners is quite clear, added he.

Iranian president Hassan Rouhani  has predicted that US pressure and threats can be turned into an opportunity for development, progress and growth.

Last month US Secretary of State talked about  a "maximum pressure campaign" targeting Iran that will support protests in this country.

Pompeo along with US national security adviser, John Bolton has been a vocal critic of the Iran and the internationally negotiated Iran nuclear deal of 2015 and advocated immediate regime change.

In May, Trump called the nuclear accord - or Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) as it is formally known - a "horrible, one-sided deal that should have never, ever been made" and withdraw from the deal.

Washington is now re-imposing the sanctions, despite objections from the UK, France, China, Russia and Germany, who all signed the 2015 agreement.

US initially planned to totally shut Iran out of global oil markets after Trump abandoned the deal, demanding all other countries to stop buying its crude by November.

But it has somewhat eased its' stance since, saying that it may grant sanction waivers to some allies that are particularly reliant on Iranian supplies.

Furthermore, In January, several Iranian cities were scenes of protests but they were hijacked by terrorist MKO elements, in which unknown elements opened fire at protesters and killed several people.

Iranian officials have said the voices of protesters need to be heard. However, they have warned of efforts by the enemies, the MKO which" Mossad admits cooperating with" and the royalists to manipulate the legitimate demands of the people and create mayhem.
