A senior Iranian parliamentarian has said international pressure and world public opinion has forced Donald Trump to say he is eager to talk to Iran, without any pre-conditions.

IranPress/Iran: A member of the Iranian parliament's national security and foreign policy commission, Dr. Heshmatollah Fallahatpisheh ,  has emphasized that because of  international diplomatic pressure on the U.S., and because of world public opinion, the Americans are now saying they want to negotiate with Iran.

In an exclusive interview with Iran Press on Sunday, Fallahatpisheh added: "We must bear in mind that the nuclear deal, JCPOA , was and is part of non-proliferation efforts , the Americans withdrew from the JCPOA , they scuppered this non-proliferation regime, and now because of pressure from world public opinion , the Americans are saying they want to negotiate with Iran."

Fallahatpisheh continued by saying:  "Another issue is domestic public opinion in the United States. The hard-line policies pursued by the Trump administration have repercussions for the Americans  undoubtedly. The Americans have always wanted to negotiate with Iran. But Iranians have not generally welcomed this, because Trump wants negotiations for the sake of negotiations.  Nothing will be gained from these negotiations.  There are prerequisites for negotiations between Tehran and Washington.  The US should honour the agreement that it has signed. It should re-enter the nuclear deal, JCPOA , if there are going to be negotiations."

The  senior Iranian parliamentarian added:  "Iran is a country which is difficult to beat militarily, and thus the Americans are forced to opt for diplomacy.  Iran will not bow down to threats and pressure  from the United States.  I believe  that diplomacy has a better chance of succeeding  in  interaction between Iran and the  U.S."
