After 22 years, out of home, Junior Iranian freestyle wrestlers could claimed early championship at 2018 Cadet Wrestling World Championships in Croatia.
On Tuesday and at the opening day of the international sporting event in the Croatian capital city of Zagreb, Iran’s Amirhossein Zare’ downed his American opponent Daniel Kerkvliet 7-4 in the final encounter of the 110-kilogram weight category, and clinched the gold medal.
In the 80-kilogram class, Mohammadreza Ghiyasi lost to his Russian rival Dmitrii Elkanov 6-9 and picked up a silver medal and Mohammad Karimiseifabad defeated Narek Haroutunian, a representative from Armenia, 10-5 in the third-place bout of the 65-kilogram weight class, and won the bronze medal.
Rahman Mousa Amouzad Khalili grabbed the second gold medal for Iranian quad on Wednesday, directing Iran towards championship at the Croatian event.
The Cadet Wrestling World Championships got under way on July 2, and will finish on July 8, 2018.
