The former Iranian defence minister, and an adviser to the Leader of Islamic revolution on defence matters, Brigadier General Hossein Dehghan, has emphasized that the hegemonic powers have been unable to harm Iran, or impede Iran's progress, despite 40 years of trying.

In an interview with Iran Press on Friday, on the sidelines of World Quds Day demonstrations and rallies in Tehran, Brigadier General Hossein Dehghan stressed the failure of Iran's enemies and the arrogant powers to thwart or impede the progress of Islamic Iran.

Brigadier General Dehghan said the Iranian nation has chosen its path and the enemies have been unable to harm us for the past 40 years, despite all of their plots and schemes.  He said their current plots and and conspiracies will also fail.

In further comments he said:  "But certainly they are still hostile towards us;  they want to create a new situation, they want to force us to follow them, they want to impose their will on us."

The former defence minister added:  "But, God willing, this (Iranian ) nation will never bow to their demands , we will never accept their hegemony, we will never be humiliated, we shall not be belittled. The Iranian nation is always vigilant and well-aware.  Under the wise leadership of the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, whichever course of action is befitting and proper, we shall undertake."
