Afghan official who is currently on an official visit to Iran at the head of a delegation made the statements in a meeting with Deputy Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi late Wednesday.
He said that his trip to Tehran is aimed at making preparation for the forthcoming visit to Tehran by the new Afghan defense minister in April and open a new chapter in bilateral relations in defense sector.
He also thanked Iran for its principled stance regarding peace process in Afghanistan, saying neighboring states’ cooperation in ensuring peace efforts in Afghanistan is significant.
Araqchi, for his part, appreciated the Afghan president’s decision to open a new chapter in bilateral defense cooperation with Iran, saying that given numerous commonalities, and deep and brotherly bonds of the two nations the peace and stability of both neighboring states are intertwined and inseparable.
Warning about common threats, especially terrorism, he called for closer cooperation to counter the threats, hoping that mutual cooperation will upgrade to higher levels.
Araqchi voiced Iran’s readiness for helping the Afghan government to advance peace process in the country.
