European MEPs call for release of political prisoners in Bahrain
Representatives of the European Parliament have demanded the release of some political prisoners from Bahraini prisons.
Iran Press/Europe: Seven European parliament representatives asked the EU's foreign policy chief 'Federica Mogherini' to put pressure on Al Khalifa regime officials to release a number of political prisoners in Bahrain.
The seven MPs called on Mogherini to send a representative from the European Union to the trial of 'Hajar Mansour', 'Nizar al-Wada'I' and 'Mahmoud Marzouk Mansour', Bahraini political activists scheduled for Monday, to make sure that the trial is fair and in accordance with international standards, Iran Press reported.
The representatives also called for the immediate release of these political activists.
The trial of these Bahraini political activists will be held and a final court ruling will be issued on Monday, February 25.
International and human rights organizations have repeatedly warned al-Khalifa regime about exacerbating oppression of political and social activists.
Since February 2011, Bahraini people have been holding peaceful protest rallies on an almost daily basis, demanding that the ruling autocratic Al Khalifah family relinquish power and let a just system of government representing all the people of Bahrain to be established.
