Seven firefighters were injured in efforts to put out a massive blaze at Germany's largest amusement park, police said Sunday (May 27), as it reopened to visitors despite extensive damage to some areas.

Dramatic images of the raging fire were widely captured by visitors to the theme park in Rust, southwestern Germany and shared on social media.

Hundreds of firefighters were called out Saturday to quell the blaze on the site of Europa-Park at Rust in Germany.

As the fire broke out, 25,000 visitors were on site.

It was put out in the early hours of Sunday and is open to the public.

On Sunday morning, the fire was finally extinguished after firefighters had worked through the night.
