Iran Press/Iran news: Iranian Navy Commander Rear Admiral Hossein Khanzadi announced that the Navy will be equipped with long-range drones in the near future. addressing a ceremony in Tehran province on Thursday.
" Navy is now equipped with drones which can be guided 200km away," Khanzadi said, adding the new drones will remove the limit on the range, Iran Press reported.
The Iranian Navy's top commander on Wednesday announced that destroyer ‘Dena’ will join the Navy's southern fleet in about three months, and also Navy destroyers will be equipped with a vertical launching system.
Regarding the technological capabilities of the new destroyers, he said the two destroyers, namely Dena and Damavand, were being equipped with a vertical launch system (VLS), which is used for holding and firing missiles on mobile naval platforms, such as surface ships and submarines.
He also noted that Sahand, another destroyer who joined the Navy last year, is now ready for missions in the ocean, and further expressed the hope that the Taftan warship would be delivered to the Naval forces next year.
Rear Admiral Khanzadi also announced plans to manufacture a new class of heavy destroyers, under a project dubbed Negin, which would each weigh over 5,000 tons in a bid to bolster the country’s defense might in the naval missions.205
