Tehran Cultural House to commemorate Hafez Day

A number of Iranian scholars, poets, and literati will gather at Tehran’s Ebn-e-Sina Cultural House to celebrate Hafez Day on Saturday.

Iran Press/Iran news: Tehran’s Ebn-e-Sina Cultural House hosts a cultural meeting to commemorate Shams al-Din Mohammad Hafez-e Shirazi, nicknamed 'Hafez', well-known mystic and poet who is now revered as one of the most influential Persian poets of all time.

He was born sometime between the years 1310-1337, in the city of Shiraz, southern Iran.

He memorized the Holy Quran by listening to his father's recitations at an early age, thus he is called 'Hafez' due to the meaning of the word.

Hafez left his mark on several important Western writers of the nineteenth century, such as the German writer Johann Wolfgang von Goethe.

October 12 is the day in which Hafez is honored in Iran and many ceremonies are held to commemorate  this great Iranian poet in Iran and other countries throughout the world.205/219
