Deputy Foreign Minister Seyyed Abbas Araghchi

Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister for Political Affairs stressed the necessity of protecting the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) against America's unilateralism.

Iran Press/Iran news: Seyyed Abbas Araghchi said that the cooperation of Iran and 4+1 countries (China, France, Russia, Germany, and the UK) should lead to the breaking of US sanctions and unilateralism which is used as a weapon against independent countries.

He made the remarks on Wednesday at a ceremony marking Germany's National Day in its embassy in Tehran, Iran Press reported.

"Iran and the European countries, along with China and Russia, have been trying to reach a balanced agreement during the negotiations, but the balance has now been lost with the US unilateralism," Araghchi said.

The Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister congratulated the anniversary of the unification of Eastern and Western Germany and the removal of the Berlin Wall, adding that Iran and Germany have long had good ties with each other.

The US withdrew unilaterally from Iran's international nuclear deal or JCPOA in May 2018 and imposed further sanctions on the Iranian nation.

The US administration's scrapping the deal was followed by national and international condemnations.101/211
