Mashhad (IP) - The oldest manuscript of Mowlavi's poetical masterpiece, the Masnavi, was unveiled on Tuesday on the occasion of 'Mowlavi Day' at the Astan Quds Museum of Imam Reza (PBUH) Holy Shrine in Mashhad, northeastern Iran.

Iran PressIran News: This 600-year-old version of  Masnavi-ye-Ma'navi is one of 267 copies of the famous Rumi's work by Jalaluddin Mohammad Balkhi known as Mowlavi, which is being held at the Astan Quds Museum in Mashhad.

The manuscript is written with the Nastaliq line on pages of 23 rows, 307 sheets, on the margin of a quarto.

Masnavi-ye-Ma'navi is one of the most important literary masterpieces in the world, inspired by mystical literature and the Holy Quran.

Jalaluddin Mohammad Balkhi, better known as Mowlana or Mowlavi, and more popularly simply as Roumi (30 September 1207–17 December 1273), was a 13th-century Persian poet, expert on Islamic Jurisprudence, Islamic scholar, and theologian originally from Greater Khorasan, but he spent most of his life in Konya, in modern-day Turkey.
