Tehran (IP) - Iran's Government Spokesman has said the first achievement of President Rouhani's trip to United Nations in New York was the scuppering of US plots against Iran.

Iran Press/Iran news: Government spokesman also said Iran is the frontrunner in presenting diplomatic initiatives.

Ali Rabiei elaborated on the Iranian president's trip to participate in the UN General Assembly summit and noted that president while defending Iran's interests by presenting his new peace and security initiative for the Persian Gulf region indicated that Iran is a frontrunner in proposing diplomatic initiatives.

Ali Rabiei also strongly criticized the Trump administration for severely restricting the movement of Iranian diplomats and senior officials in New York, saying this unorthodox US action violates diplomatic norms.

The US not in favor of peace

Iranian Government Spokesman Ali Rabiei stated that Iran was ready to negotiate in New York but US President Donald Trump did not dare to take make a proper decision by lifting sanctions.

"Contrary to the US desire, the visit of the Iranian President to the United States was very important and a turning point in the history of the Islamic Republic of Iran," Rabiei said.

EU trio claims against Iran

Referring to three European countries' statements against Iran and blaming the Islamic Republic of Iran for attacking Saudi oil facilities, the spokesman added that they (Germany, Britain, and France) were seeking to exert pressure on Iran. But with Iran's President's insistence and pursuit, it became clear that there was no evidence against Iran's involvement in the attack."

The official went on to say that "The notable thing is that none of the three European countries wanted to take responsibility for their statement, so Iran asked them to amend that statement. In our points of view, their statement reflects incomplete information and their lack of understanding of the Yemeni army's progress on manufacturing advanced weapons."

Hormuz Peace Endeavor

The initiative of Hormuz Peace Endeavor, presented by the President at the United Nations, is an alternative to the US anti-Iranian plan in the Persian Gulf, and it had some fundamental differences with the US plan, the spokesman stated.

1: The President's plan sees the security of the region domestically should be met by regional states.

2.  This initiative is inclusive and does not exclude any country.

3. Iran's plan is not against any country and is an affirmative plan instead of a privative one.

"Today, we are ready to negotiate more closely on this plan and expand it and make it a benchmark for the sincerity of governments in stabilizing the Persian Gulf."

European JCPOA Negotiations

The president has explicitly sent a message to Europeans in the JCPOA that Iran is ready to negotiate, provided that the United States fulfills the preconditions, which is the lifting of sanctions.

At the same time, Iran has reminded European leaders that they must live up to their commitments and that America's withdrawal from their commitments will not justify their failure to adhere to commitments.

Washington becomes increasingly distrustful

Washington has become increasingly distrustful with its withdrawal from Iran's deal, and today it is difficult for the United States to encourage Iran to engage in a negotiation that there is not even the slightest confidence after its departure.

He reiterated the Iranian president's efforts for the sake of peace in New York, saying that the president was ready to negotiate, but Trump was unwilling to lift sanctions on Iran, which created two doubts:

First, that the United States is not a committed negotiator Second, the US wants to use the leverage of sanctions in the talks.

We were close to diplomacy and a final solution, but the US government prevented it. Although Trump did not dare to do the right thing, he seems to have come close to accepting the facts about Iran, that everything will come to fruition rather than pressure, and that Iran will not negotiate with those who have inconsistent behavior.
