Iran Press/Iran News: In his weekly presser, answering a reporter's question about Pakistan's attempt to negotiate with Iran with regard to the Iran-US ties, Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesman, Seyyed Abbas Mousavi said: "We welcome the action of all those who seek to reduce tensions, and especially we thank the Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan. But, no special plan was presented from Pakistan and Iran has announced its position that the negotiation with the US is not possible unless sanctions are lifted."
Another reporter asked about Iran’s Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif's phone call with several members of the US Congress in New York.
Mousavi answered: "Talking with US congressional officials has always been usual because these people are not related to government. This has not been a secret. After the sanctions by the US, they tried to have these consultations by telephone, rather than in person."
Mousavi added that they discussed bilateral issues between Iran and the United States and tried to hear the position of the Islamic Republic of Iran in recent phone calls.
