The new school year started across the Islamic Republic of Iran on Monday 23 September, corresponding to first day of Mehr on the Iranian calendar.

 Iran press/Iran news: Monday 23 September is the first day of autumn in Iran, and is also the beginning of the new school year. More than 14 million Iranian school students begin the new academic year on Monday.
Iranian President Hassan Rouhani attended a girls' school in Tehran on Monday morning and rang the bell to symbolically start the new school year, Iran Press reported.

President Rouhani addressed an audience of students and teachers, delivering a speech about the education system in Iran, and more spending on education in recent years. He also rang the school bell, symbolically starting the new school year in Iran.
