Iran Press/Iran news: "We have signed a good agreement with Iraqi medical officials regarding the Pilgrims' health care in all religious events. One of the articles of this agreement is about the free treatment of all Iranian pilgrims who would go to the Iraqi medical centers and also the treatment of all Iraqi patients at the Iranian medical centers at a very low cost," the head of Iran's EMS Pir-Hussein Kolivand told the Iran Press reporter in an exclusive interview on the sidelines of EMS national day on Monday in Tehran.
He stressed that the other article is the program of controlling the infectious diseases in all hotels and Husseinias in Iraq which will be done by the Iranian medical experts whom the Iraqi officials will issue ID cards for.
The Iranian official added: "Also, we will control all pilgrims who use Iran as a transit country for going to Iraq."
"One of our important measures is to deploy the Iranian medical experts in the Iraqi hospitals alongside the Iraqi medical experts in Kadhimiya, Najaf, and Karbala cities to send Iranian patients to Iran who would need advanced medical care," Kolivand continued.
He mentioned that Iran has also deployed all EMS experts and proper medical equipment in the border and inside Iraq including two helicopters and 30 ambulances.
Every year Shia Muslims from across the globe converge on Iraq to commemorate the 40th day after Ashura, known as Arbaeen. Pilgrims travel miles on foot to reach the shrine of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him) in Karbala.

Expanding ties with other countries
Referring to the medical collaborations with other countries, Kolivand said: "We made an agreement with Germany to transfer our experiences dealing with earthquakes and floods to the other country and receive their experiences in reducing traffic accidents."
"We will train the 'Rapid Response EMS' to those countries' medical representatives who will participate in the future health ministers meeting known as the EMRO group, the head of Iran's EMS concluded.
Health ministers and high-level representatives of the 22 countries and territories of the World Health Organization (WHO) Eastern Mediterranean Regional Office (EMRO), partner organizations and the civil society, will take part in the sixty-sixth session of the organization regional committee for the Eastern Mediterranean, in Tehran, Islamic Republic of Iran, in October14- 17 2019.
