Iran Press/Iran news: Iran's Interior Minister Abdolreza Rahmani Fazli who met on Friday with Kyrgyzstan's Prime Minister Mukhammedkalyi Abylgaziev, arrived at Mashhad, the capital of Iranian province of Khorasan Razavi, on Saturday and attended a press conference in the city's Shahid Hasheminezhad International Airport.
"Kyrgyz officials are interested in expanding bilateral cooperation with the Islamic Republic of Iran," the Iranian top official said adding that increasing cooperation between the countries has been approved by their governments, Iran Press reported.
Noting the $44 million value of trade between the two countries, Rahmani Fazli predicted that the amount will be doubled at least over the next two years.
A security agreement also was signed based on which such issues as fighting terrorism, smuggling and contraband, extremism, organized crime, exchanging information, training, and operational areas were finalized, and the agreement will be enforced after the Iranian parliament's approval, he added.
Also visiting the Kyrgyz Counter Narcotics Service, the Iranian Interior Minister signed an agreement on security cooperation between the two countries.
The Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) and Iran signed an interim agreement on a Free Trade Area on 17 May 2018. The agreement significantly enhances trade between the EAEU countries and the Islamic Republic of Iran, including facilitating customs and tariffs.
Rahmani Fazli said based on the trade agreement, a 300-category of discounted and promotional basic goods are exported from Iran to the EAEU member states, and a basket of 500 commodities will be imported into Iran from EAEU member states.
The Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), includes Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Armenia and Kyrgyzstan, and the organization was established in 2015. 101/211/215
