Iran Press/Iran news: Iran's Interior Minister Abdulreza Rahmani Fazli expressed happiness of visiting Kermanshah people and said that with the reopening of the border, Arbaeen pilgrims will receive better services.
The Khosravi border is the nearest point of Iran to Iraq's capital city of Baghdad, as well as Karbala, Kadhimain, and Samarra where the Shia Imams' holy shrines are located.
The border is 190km to Baghdad, 380 km to Najaf al-Ashraf, 300km to Karbala, 203km to Kadhimain, and 326km to Sammara.
The Arbaeen Pilgrimage is the world's largest annual public gathering that is held every year in Karbala, Iraq at the end of the 40-day mourning period following Ashura, the religious ritual for the commemoration of the martyrdom of the grandson of Prophet Mohammad (blessings of God upon him and his progeny) and the third Shia Imam, Hossein ibn Ali in 680 AD.
