Iran Press/Iran news: In an exclusive interview with Iran Press, the Iranian Vice-President for Science and Technology, Sorena Sattari said: " It is the first time that 'Beraksurf' is produced in Iran. It is the combination of animal science and its use for human."
He went on to add that: "In the field of medicine, we have started a detailed plan since last year in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and Food and Drug Administration of Iran."
He referred to the production of the first domestic pulmonary Surfactant 'Beraksurf', saying that: "We hope to continue these measures".
Beraksurf is a generic form of medicine under the name of Survanta (Beractant). It is a bovine pulmonary Surfactant containing bovine extract, used for prevention and treatment of Respiratory Distress Syndrome (RDS) in premature infants.
The Global Innovation Index (GII) in 2019 reported that major portion of requirements of Iran’s pharmaceutical market is provided by the Iranian companies which hold about 70 percent of $4.5 billion pharmaceutical markets of the country. 104/218/203
