Iran Press/Iran news: Commander of the Quds Force of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Major General, Qassem Soleimani, made the remarks in a meeting with the Iranian foreign minister, Mohammad Javad Zarif on Tuesday morning, saying, “Imposing sanctions on you by the US proved that you, as head of the country's foreign policy, have made a great impact on the US’ public opinion and its people about ignorance of the country’s leaders.”
General Soleimani appreciated the hard work by Zarif, adding that the US’ act against him was lunatic and is a sign of the White House’s frustration and failure in implementing its policies.
He further described the honesty and defending the national interests as two main characteristics of the Iranian foreign minister, and congratulated him for being hated by the US and designated in the sanctions list because of his allegiance to the Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei.
The US government on Wednesday, July 31, imposed sanctions on Zarif.

The US move simply ratchets up tensions and effectively closes the door to all forms of diplomacy.
Many countries, international organizations and international media have opposed the slapping of sanctions on Zarif, saying this US move is illogical, unhelpful, unlikely to resolve anything, and would only heighten tensions further.
Zarif says he has been sanctioned because of rejecting Donald Trump’s request for negotiations.
