Iran Press/Iran news: Speaking in a meeting with the Omani Foreign Minister Yusuf bin Alawi bin Abdullah on Sunday in Tehran, Iran's parliament speaker, Ali Larijani stressed that Iran’s strategy is to improve the security of the region, adding, “The security would be created by the regional countries and any interference by the foreigners would cause predictable dangers.”
Larijani referred to the long history of friendship between the two countries in different situations, especially at the time of Saddam’s imposed war against Iran and noted, “We believe that Oman has a positive effect on the regional developments,” poitingto Oman's role in Iran nuclear talks in this regard, Iran Press reported.
“The UK has seized the Iranian oil tanker and we wonder what is the benefit of this for them?” Iran's parliament speaker continued.
In return, Yusuf bin Alawi also mentioned the cooperation between Iran and Oman, saying, “We are on the same path and we aim at creating sustainable security in the region.”
He added: “We are sure that Iranians are wise and intellectual and believe Iran has had a major role in the security of the region.”
The Iranian President, Hassan Rouhani also referred to the regional security issue in his meeting with the Omani Foreign Minister on Sunday, saying that the presence of foreign forces is the main cause of regional tensions.
Yusuf bin Alawi bin Abdullah also had meetings with his Iranian counterpart Mohammad Javad Zarif and Iran’s Secretary of Supreme National Security Council Admiral Ali Shamkhani in Tehran on Saturday.
