Iran Press/ Iran news: The director general of Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism organisation of Kermanshah province, Omid Ghaderi, has said we have set ourselves a target of attracting ten million tourists to Kermanshah province.
In an exclusive interview with Iran Press on Sunday, Omid Ghaderi emphasized Kermanshah's rich historical heritage, including 4200 historic and archaeological sites in the province.
Ghaderi said: "Kermanshah has everything needed for attracting tourists, such as four seasons, a very hospitable and friendly people, beautiful weather all-year-round, beautiful quaint villages, pristine nature, and ecotourism, making the province eminently suitable as a destination for tourists from all over the world."
He added: "We hope in 2020, the year of ecotourism and the year of village tourism, to introduce Kermanshah province to tourists from all over the world. We have the Ouramanat region, Ouramanat villages, which is a major tourist attraction site, and will be registered [with UNESCO] soon. We hope to register 13 villages in Ouramanat region, as national treasures and national villages."
In further remarks, Omid Ghaderi said: "In western Kermanshah province, we have great tourist sites, in places such as Rijaab, Dallahue, Sar-e-Pol Zahab, and Qasr-e-Shirin. We have a historic Sassanian-era route, particularly in villages of Rijaab and Dallahue, where hundreds of archaeological artefacts and places of interest are located."
"We also have in eastern Kermanshah places like Harsin, Sahneh and Kangavar. We also have 'Bisotoun' -- the only UNESCO-registered historic site in western Iran. Also the temple of 'Anahita' is located in Kangavar -- the largest historic stone structure second only to Persepolis (Takht-e-Jamshid)."
The Head of Kermanshah tourism added: "We also have historic sites in Harsin, such as Ganjdareh in Harsin, Saraab in Sahneh, Saraab in Fash, quaint villages in Songhor and Chamchamal and also a number of beautiful dams and rivers in Kermanshah province. We are aiming to attract up to 10 million domestic and foreign tourists. Kermanshah is known as the beautiful face of Iran. In the first three months of this year, we have had over 2 million domestic tourists from different regions of Iran and over 11000 foreign tourists who have visited beautiful Kermanshah province !"
