Iran Press/Iran news: Mohammad Javad Zarif said Bolton, failed to persuade Donald Trump into waging war on Iran, is now trying to stock a confrontation between Tehran and London over a British-flagged tanker impounded in the Persian Gulf.
Zarif wrote on Twitter on Sunday that under the current circumstances, “Only prudence and foresight can thwart such ploys,” warning the UK against making a mistake.
On Friday, Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) said that it had impounded a British oil tanker for breaching international maritime law while crossing the Strait of Hormuz. The elite force then guided the vessel to the port in the Iranian city of Bandar Abbas for investigation.
Earlier on Sunday, Iran's ambassador to Britain, Hamid Baeidinejad, advised the UK government in a tweet to control and contain all 'domestic political forces' who are in favour of escalating tensions between Iran and the UK.
