Iranian air defense forces successfully test-launched the home-made Shalamcheh surface-to-air missile from the home-built air defense system Mersad, which has the capability of destroying various types of modern fighter jets and drones. The missiles were fired on the second day of the joint aerial military exercises on Tuesday.

Iran news: According to an Iran Press report, several surface-to-air Shalamcheh missiles were fired on Tuesday, the second day of the  "Air Defence Velayat 97" military exercises, with all missiles hitting their air-borne targets successfully.

Also the medium-range Tabas missile system was successfully tested on Tuesday, with all Tabas missiles hitting their targets. 

The official spokesperson for the aerial military exercises, General Mahmoud Mousavi said the successful test-firing of Shalamcheh missiles and the medium-range Tabas missile system shows clearly the capabilities of Iran's armed forces. We have successfully manufactured very advanced weapons systems and military hardware here at home, using state-of-the-art technology.

Also on November 5, Iranian air defense forces launched a homemade missile system and unveiled a new artillery system on Monday during a joint military drill.

The Iranian Army and the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) have staged a large-scale joint military exercise.

During the ‘Velayat’ air defense drill, the Army fired three ‘Sayyad-2’ missiles paired with the ‘Talash’ homegrown missile system.
