Iran Press/Europe: The Iranian ambassador to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Kazem Gharibabadi said that he had presented a report of the meeting of the IAEA Board of Governors in Vienna, Austria, which addressed safeguard and protocol issues, and also detailed the case of the suspected IAEA inspector.
With regards to the inspector, he said that she was suspected of carrying dangerous materials with herself, Iran Press reported.
Garibabadi said he submitted to the board a comprehensive report of what has happened to the inspector since her entrance to the Natanz nuclear site, Isfahan, central Iran, until her exit from the country, stressing that Iran has security concerns over the issue.
During the inspector's presence in the nuclear facility the detector alarm was activated showing that she could have carried dangerous materiasl with herself, he explained.
"Detectors were not used only once but for several places even they were used to inspect her briefcase and the restroom that she had used; the detector alarm was activated," he further explained.
According to Gahribabdi, the detector indicated that there in the Washing room, some materials have been identified; from all of the suspected points the inspector was present, sampling was done.
"This is considered as an alarm for us and we cannot simply ignore it; some other inspectors were with the suspected one, yet the detectors showed no alarm for them but for her in three different places, when in primary inspection; when in the restroom, and when in her hotel room and her personal things," Iran's ambassador to IAEA stressed.
He went on to say: "We demanded the IAEA inspector must collaborate, enquiring about the material that she has carried with her, and tried to dispose off in the bathroom (WC)".
Gharibabadi said the issue is under investigation by Iran and the IAEA and referred to previous attempts at sabotage at Iran's nuclear facilities, stressing that Iran never compromises or endangers its national security.
Insisting on the IAEA's full cooperation to do the investigation, IAEA has informed Iran in a letter that it is ready to cooperate with Iran in the process of investigation.
Also with regard to the issues related to safeguards, the added protocol, and the Iran nuclear deal known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), Gharibabdi said at times the IAEA requires some reports of Iran's nuclear program to inform the board of governors of the processes of relevant issues including safeguards, adding that Iran continues to cooperate with the IAEA.
