The Iranian foreign minister has stressed that America's appetite for violating international laws and treaties does not end with its unlawful abrogation of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).

Iran Press/Iran News: In an interview in Moscow on Monday night with Russia Today (RT), Iranian foreign minister Mohammad Javad Zarif referred to America's withdrawal from the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty (the INF Treaty) and its withdrawal from the Paris Climate Agreement, and other international agreements. Zarif said this behaviour will ultimately be to America's own detriment.

The Iranian foreign minister pointedly added: "If a country starts to violate international laws and treaties habitually, this will cause havoc and chaos internationally, undermining the rule of law and the world order."

Russia Today (RT) will broadcast Zarif's full interview on Tuesday 3 September.

Zarif's visit to Russia is particularly important coming as it does after two weeks of intensive shuttle diplomacy, his trips to three European countries and three Asian countries during the past ten days.

Foreign minister Zarif has already warned the European signatories to the JCPOA that if they fail to honour their commitments by Thursday (5 September) they can expect Iran to take the third incremental step in further reducing its commitments to the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).

Zarif issued the warning after a meeting of the National Security and Foreign Policy Commission of the Majlis (parliament) last Sunday, in which he took part.

The fate of the landmark nuclear deal is very much in the balance and we shall see in the coming weeks if the JCPOA is preserved or whether it unravels as countries fail to honour their commitments under the deal.
