Iran Press/ Europe: The UK Foreign Office issued a statement by Jeremy Hunt following a meeting of the emergency COBR committee.
Hunt said the COBRA meeting was called to review what is known and what can be done to swiftly secure the release of the British-flagged "Stenaimpero" oil tanker.
Hunt said their crews comprised a range of nationalities, but there were no British citizens on board the ship.
"Our Ambassador in Tehran is in contact with the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs to resolve the situation and
we are working closely with international partners," British Foreign Secretary stated.
Hunt described the seizure as unacceptable, saying, "It is essential that freedom of navigation is maintained and
that all ships can move safely and freely in the region."
This is while, Iran super tanker 'Grace 1' was seized in an illegal action by British Royal Marines in the Strait of
Gibraltar on Thursday July 4. Apart from the fact that the tanker was on the right course and in international
waters, the British Royal Marines had no justification for seizing the tanker. Moreover, Britain has disrupted
Iran's oil trade, in contravention of both the letter and spirit of JCPOA.
