Iranian and Afghan justice ministries have signed a memorandum of understanding to promote judicial cooperation between the two countries.

Asia: According to Iran Press, Iran's minister of justice Seyyed Alireza Avaee told his visiting Afghan counterpart Abdul-Basir Anvar on Saturday that Iran and Afghanistan enjoy great capacity to deepen bilateral relations thanks to a common culture, language and religion.

Avaee stressed the need for Iran and Afghanistan to strengthen their cooperation in the fight against drug trafficking and terrorism.

The Iranian justice minister added: "Both countries are faced with common dangers as far as terrorism and drugs are concerned, thus they should bolster their cooperation."

Avaee reminded that the two neighbors are linked through a long border and currently Iran is hosting a huge number of Afghan nationals who are provided with good and acceptable health and educational services.

"The Islamic Republic of Iran was willing to give all Afghan refugees a legal status through which they could enjoy their legal rights," said the justice minister of Iran.

Afghan Justice minister, Abdul-Basir Anvar and the accompanying delegation arrived in Tehran on Saturday. They were welcomed at the airport by Deputy justice minister for human rights and international affairs, Mahmoud Abbasi.
