Armenia's prime minsiter Nikol Pashinyan has called for comprehensive probe into former army general's criminal case.

Armenia's prime minsiter Nikol Pashinyan before the cabinet’s special meeting on Monday has asked the head of the National Security Service to pursue consistently the findings of recently conducted law enforcement operations.

Armenia's prime minsiter said he understands that the law enforcement authorities will need time to ensure the conduct of an impartial probe to hold all the responsible parties accountable.

“We have also outlined certain problems and developed an agenda to address the posisble collaboration among the law enforcement bodies. I will convene a working meeting in the couple of days to come to introduce a certain clarity into the matter and upgrade the level of cooperation. I hope the probe will be properly conducted,” Pashinyan  added.

A search in the villa of Manvel Grigoryan, currently a member of the National Assembly, revealed a large quantity of weapons and ammunition, as well stockpiles of food.

The general was later arrested over accusations of misappropriating items.

His son, Karen Grigoryan, who is the mayor of Echmiadzin (Armavir region), announced his resignation on Monday morning.
