Iranian President Hassan Rouhani has said that observing JCPOA's commitments is beneficial both for US and Europe.

Iran Press/Iran news: Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said that Washington faced with failures of sanctions against Iran and has become perplexed and confused more than ever, and observing JCPOA's commitments is beneficial both for US and  Europe.

According to an Fars News Agency, Rouhani noted that US officials themselves proved that their proposal for unconditional talks with Iran is nothing but lies and baseless words, and said, "While the Japanese prime minister was holding talks in Iran, the US imposed a new sanction (against Iran's petrochemical sector) and it was the best way to display that the US is not genuine and honest, and is simply playing a game."

"These days, we see the White House in confusion and we are witnessing ridiculous words [from White House officials] and adoption of ill-judged policies," President Rouhani said, addressing a cabinet meeting in Tehran on Wednesday.

President Rouhani also referred to US President Donald Trump's remarks that Washington wants to prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons, and said if he is really concerned about nuclear weapons why he has kept mum about Israel's atomic warheads.

President Rouhani referred to the Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei's fatwa which bans Iran's acquisition and use of nuclear weapons, and said the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has also on several occasions confirmed Iran's commitment to non-proliferation laws.

"The US sanctions are crime against humanity. The US recent measures indicate their ultimate failure. The new US measures are the result of their frustration and confusion over Iran. The White House has mental disability," he added.

JCPOA commitments to benefit both US, Europe: Rouhani

The Iranian President Hassan Rouhani has called on the United States to return to the JCPOA and the European countries to abide by their commitments to the deal, saying it would be in their best interest to do so.

“The path you have chosen is a wrong path. We advise the Europeans that your inaction towards the JCPOA is also inappropriate. We call on both sides to return to their commitments,” President Rouhani said in today’s cabinet meeting.

“This would be beneficial to you, us, the region, law and international institutions and the non-proliferation system,” Rouhani added.
