The United States, facing backlash from some allies over an anti-Iran conference in Warsaw, said the conference is not a venue to demonize or attack Iran.

Iran Press/America: Addressing the UN Security Council on Tuesday, the acting US ambassador Jonathan Cohen said the Warsaw ministerial meeting "is not a venue to demonize or attack Iran."
According to associated press, he called the anti-Iran meeting a "global brainstorming session" to "develop the outline of a stronger security architecture" in the Middle East.

The February 13-14 event will include sessions on the humanitarian crises in Syria and Yemen, missile development, extremism, and cybersecurity, Cohen said.

The anti-Iran summit is hosted jointly by Poland and US. it is supposed to be held in the Polish capital of Warsaw.
On Jan 13, 2019, Iran's Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned the Polish chargé d'affaires, conveying to him Iran's strong protest at the proposed holding of an anti-Iran conference in Poland in February.

For his part, the Polish diplomat, Wojciech Unolt, emphasized that the event will be not at all directed against the Islamic Republic of Iran. He also explained further that Poland's political stance is completely different from US officials' recent words and interpretations.

Earlier on January 11, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo announced that the United States would hold an international summit in Poland on 13 - 14 February to discuss cooperation on achieving stability and security in the Middle East.

Iran has called the conference a US "anti-Iran circus," while warning that Tehran could resort to unspecified "counteraction" toward Poland.

The Iranian Foreign minister, Mohammad Javad Zarif in a memo posted on Twitter on Friday said: "Reminder to host/participants of the anti-Iran conference: those who attended last US anti-Iran show are either dead, disgraced or marginalized. And Iran is stronger than ever."

Russian Ambassador Vasily Nebenzya told the Security Council on January 22 that the conference will fail to bolster Middle East security because of its "one-country aspect" and failure to address the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

"Attempts to create some kind of military alliances in the region, holding different conferences and focusing on having a simplified unilateral approach to the region that is clearly linked just to Iran, is counterproductive," Nebenzya said.

EU foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini has said that she will not attend the Warsaw meeting, which has received a cool reception from European countries.101/210
