U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo touched down in Hanoi, Vietnam's capital on Sunday. He is due to meet and confer with senior Vietnamese leaders.

North Korea’s nuclear weapons, China’s military muscle-flexing in the region and closer U.S.-Vietnam relations are the  main topics of discussions between Pompeo and Vietnamese leaders including Communist Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc.

Secretary of State Mike Pompeo is expected to discuss denuclearization of the Korean peninsula with senior Vietnamese officials.
