Rome (IP)- In the wake of his meetings with Italian officials, Mohammad Javad Zarif met with former Italian Prime Minister Massimo D'Alema at the residence of the Iranian ambassador in Rome today to discuss cooperation between the two countries, regional issues as well as international issues.

Iran PressEurope: The Foreign Minister also met with Zampini, the new President of the Italy-Iran Joint Chamber of Commerce, and talked about economic and trade cooperation between Italian companies and the Iranian side.

Zarif started his European tour last Thursday with a trip to the capital city of Spain, Madrid.

After meeting with Spanish officials, the Iranian Foreign Minister arrived in Rome on Sunday to meet with Italian and Vatican officials and met with Vatican Prime Minister Cardinal Pietro Parolin and Archbishop Gallagher and Pope Francis, the head of the Catholic Church.

The Foreign Minister also met and held talks with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and the International Cooperation of Italy Luigi Di Maio to discuss the expansion of bilateral relations between Iran and Italy.

Iran's FM also met with the Speaker of the lower house of the Italian Parliament, Roberto Fico.
