Tehran (IP) - Iran's Foreign Minister said that according to the Islamic Consultative Assembly's law, a new step would be implemented on February 23, and that was to reduce the supervision of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

Iran PressIran News: On the sidelines of the government cabinet’s meeting on Wednesday in response to Iran Press question on what new action Iran would take if no significant change in the joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) took place by Feb 23, Mohammad-Javad Zarif noted that at this date, the IAEA's supervision would not be ceased but would only be decreased.

Zarif stated that Iran had acted in accordance with the Agency Safeguard, which was the standard of supervision, and was committed to the Safeguards Agreement and was a member of this agreement, and cooperation would continue within this framework.

Iran's FM highlighted that Iran had voluntarily implemented the Additional Protocol without ratifying it, but now its Parliament had decided to suspend such implementation.

The decision of the Islamic Republic of Iran's parliament would be implemented, Iran would consult with the IAEA Director General Rafael Mariano Grossi and from February 23, Iran's voluntary actions in implementing the Additional Protocol would be halted, but the IAEA would continue its monitoring, Zarif stressed.

The Islamic Republic of Iran's Foreign Minister highlighted that the important point after February 23 was that the IAEA's normal monitoring in Iran would continue and Iran's Nuclear Deal's signatories must return to their commitments and all Iran and Iranian parliament's actions had been implemented within the framework of Article 36 of the JCOPA, Zarif said.

Iran has been committed to JCPOA and fulfilled its obligations, and as soon as the US lifts sanctions and other members of the Deal fulfill their obligations, the situation would return to normal, Iran's Foreign Minister emphasized.
