Iran Press/ America: For the first time in three years, world leaders are convening in New York to discuss sweeping crises that include climate change, food insecurity and the war in Ukraine.
The 77th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York City will feature top leaders, including António Guterres, the UN secretary general, in person for the first time in three years.
According to the UN, the theme for this year’s UNGA is, “a watershed moment: transformative solutions to interlocking challenges.”
After the COVID-19 pandemic restricted in-person attendance the previous two years, more than 150 heads of state and government were expected to attend the annual gathering in New York.
Iran's President Ebrahim Raisi has traveled to the General Assembly for the first time. Raisi and US President Joe Biden are both expected to address the UNGA on Wednesday morning.
