Iran Press/Iran News: Ali Baqeri-Kani, noting the fact that 26 of the 47 member states of the Human Rights Council did not vote in favor of the western supported resolution against Iran, said: This resolution was proposed and supported by the West against Iran, but most members of the Human Rights Council did not accept the Western political approach to human rights in Iran.

On 23 March, the Anti-Iran resolution to extend the mission of a special rapporteur on the situation of human rights in the Islamic Republic of Iran was approved at the Council with 21 votes in favor, and 26 against or abstained.
China, Russia, Cuba, Pakistan, and Venezuela have been among the countries that called the Council's decision unconstructive and fruitless.
Esmaeil Baghaei Hamaneh, Permanent representatives of Iran to the international organizations in Geneva, censured hostile measures taken by the US and UK against Iran and cautioned them against misuse of the UN Human Rights Council.
He made the remarks at the 46th regular session of the Human Rights Council (22 February to 23 March 2021) on March 23, where a resolution against Iran's human rights situation was approved with a minimum of votes.
