Iran Press/ Africa: Clashes between government forces and armed insurgents in Sudan's Darfur region have been seen since 2003, killing more than 300,000 people and displacing 2.5 million.
The UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in Darfur province said in a statement on Sunday that bloody and tragic incidents in the Kreinik area of West Darfur began on Friday, killing 160 and injuring 98 residents. At the same time, about 20,000 people have been displaced.
According to Adam Regal, spokesman for the General Coordination for Refugees and Displaced in Darfur, the recent violence in the Krink area came after government militants attacked the area. Different parts of Darfur occasionally witness bloody clashes between Arab and African tribes over land, pastures, and resources.
On November 25 last year, the United Nations announced the deaths of 43 people in 46 villages following inter-tribal violence in the Darfur region.
