Tehran (IP) - Iran's Government Spokesman said on the sidelines of a cabinet meeting that the US President Trump has no problem with killing people in other countries but he interferes with Iran's internal affairs.

Iran Press/Iran News: Answering the question of the Iran Press correspondent on the European resolution against Iran's recent riots, the Government Spokesman Ali Rabiei said: "When a journalist (Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi) was killed in a third country by mercenaries of another country, the US president said it is not important but he interferes with our internal affairs."

"Europe has double-standard policies and when the case is about the US and Europe's allies, they ignore it," he added while referring to the killing of Jamal Khashoggi by Saudi Arabia.

"We are not a government that conceals its internal affairs. We have established a fact-finding committee and the dimensions of the incident and how many have been killed will be clear," Rabiei added on the sidelines of a cabinet meeting on Wednesday.

"We are sensitive to the harm of our citizens and are not happy to shed the blood of an Iranian," said the Government Spokesman, noting that Western media reports -- and in particular a Reuters report -- on Iranian casualties are incorrect.

Reuters claimed on Monday that “about 1,500 people were killed during less than two weeks of unrest that started on November 15.”

In mid-November, a series of protests broke out in several Iranian cities against a government decision to increase fuel prices. The initially peaceful gatherings, however, descended into violence as riotous elements — many of them armed — infiltrated the protests, perpetrating acts vandalism against public and private property and randomly opening fire at everyone on the scene.

Authorities have reported fatalities among both civilians and security forces, but are yet to release an official figure on the number of casualties.
