Iran Press/ Asia: Zhao Lijian, in response to questions about the JCPOA on the sixth anniversary of the agreement, reaffirmed China's commitment to the Iran nuclear deal and its return to the main course through the Vienna talks as soon as possible.
He stated in a press conference yesterday (Thursday): "July 14 was the sixth anniversary of the JCPOA agreement on Iran's nuclear program. The JCPOA, the result of 13 years of careful negotiation, is an important output of multilateral diplomacy, endorsed by UN Security Council Resolution 2231."
Lijian added: "The JCPOA is a classic example of resolving disputes through dialogue and consultation and a key element in the non-proliferation regime and the strengthening of peace and stability in the Middle East."
He also said: "In the meantime, the American side must show its sincerity by taking concrete steps to regain global trust."
"Negotiations on resuming the commitment to the agreement have reached the final stage," he said, referring to the Vienna talks and added that all parties have shown their political will to reach an agreement. But there are still some differences that need to be resolved. The United States must make an immediate decision to lift all unilateral and illegal sanctions against Iran and third parties. Iran must also fully resume its commitments.
