Iran Press/ Middle East: Because of the war, poverty in Yemen has jumped from 47 percent of the population in 2014 to a projected 75 percent by the end of 2019.
According to Iran Press, separately, UNDP Yemen's Resident Representative, Auke Lootsma, said in a statement that the ongoing crisis is threatening to make Yemen's population the poorest in the world.
"Not only has the war made Yemen the largest humanitarian crisis in the world, but it has also plunged it into a harrowing development crisis too," he added.
Saudi Arabia started the war on Yemen in March 2015 in a bid to reinstall a former regime and eliminate the Houthi Ansarullah movement.
The Saudi-led aggression has so far killed more than 91,000 Yemenis, based on a research done by the US-based Armed Conflict Location and Event Data Project (ACLED), a nonprofit conflict-research organization.
