Iran Press/ Europe News: Alireza Akbari, the son of Ali with double Iranian-British citizenship, was sentenced to death on charges of "spreading corruption on Earth" threatening social and political well-being" and extensive actions against the country's internal and external security through espionage for the British government's intelligence agency, was executed.
The UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office has recalled the British ambassador to Tehran for consultations after the execution of Alireza Akbari, who had dual Iranian-British citizenship, in Iran, UK’s Foreign Secretary James Cleverly said on Saturday.
James Cleverly published a message on Twitter on Saturday night, claiming that London is considering the next steps in response to Akbari's verdict.
Meanwhile, on Saturday, Simon Shercliffe, the British ambassador in Tehran, was summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs by the Director General of Western Europe in response to Britain's unconventional interventions, including in the field of Iran's national security.
The director general of the Iranian Foreign Ministry’s West Europe Department pointed to tangible information about the trap set for Akbari by the British side, saying the UK government must be held accountable over its unconventional links that led to a breach of the Islamic Republic of Iran’s national security. The director general also noted that unjustified and mischievous support for a spy is at odds with claims of seeking relations based on mutual respect.
Also, British foreign minister James Cleverly said on Saturday Britain had imposed sanctions on Iran's Prosecutor General after the execution of Alireza Akbari. 219
