Iran Press/ Europe: British Brexit minister Stephen Barclay said on Sunday that the European Union must seek a fresh mandate from European leaders in order to make changes to the Brexit agreement [which Theresa May negotiated].
Writing in the Mail, Barclay said: "The results of the recent European elections shows that Brussels needs to change its approach," Iran Press reported.
"European Parliament elections in May has changed European political developments, and European leaders must change the mandate of the EU's chief Brexit negotiator Michel Barnier," Barclay reiterated.
He added: "More than 61% of European parliament's MEPs have changed, so European leaders must reconsider the terms of the current agreement if they want to reach a deal and avoid a no-deal exit."
The UK has spent nearly three years trying to negotiate a divorce from the EU, following the June 2016 referendum that resulted in the surprise victory of those in favour of Brexit.
