Iran Press/ America: Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian and UAE’s Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan held talks and exchanged viewpoints on bilateral relations and issues of mutual interest on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly meeting in New York.
The Iranian foreign minister said he is pleased with the growing trend in the ties between the two countries since President Ebrahim Raisi in Iran took office and welcomed further expansion and strengthening of relations in different fields with the UAE.
He also announced Tehran’s readiness to hold a supreme committee for cooperation.
The top Iranian diplomat also briefed his Emirati counterpart on the latest developments in the talks for the removal of sanctions.
During the meeting, UAE Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan touched on the significance of historical and cultural ties between his country and the Islamic Republic of Iran. He reiterated the UAE's readiness to expand economic and trade cooperation with Iran, host the meeting of the council of businesspeople of the two countries, and participate in regional meetings with Iranian delegations, including the conference on renewable energies in Abu Dhabi.
He also expressed hope that he would visit Iran shortly.
The two sides also discussed the developments in Ukraine and political initiatives in the Persian Gulf region.
