London (IP) - Iran has dismissed accusations leveled by the United States at a recent international maritime conference, calling them unfounded and lacking evidence.

Iran Press/Europe: The Iranian delegation, headed by Deputy Minister of Roads and Urban Development, Ali Akbar Safaei, emphasized Tehran’s commitment to ensuring maritime security and safety while robustly defending the nation’s interests.

Speaking to Iran Press News Agency, Safaei criticized the U.S. approach, describing it as a pattern of baseless accusations and deflections at global forums. “The Americans often resort to scapegoating and forward escape in such international meetings, hurling accusations at the Islamic Republic of Iran without providing any evidence,” he said.

He added that the Iranian delegation delivered a "strong and decisive response" in the official setting of the conference, rejecting these claims outright.

Safaei highlighted Iran’s significant standing in global maritime affairs. “The Islamic Republic of Iran, as one of the oldest members of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) and the owner of the 16th largest maritime fleet in the world, holds a special position within this body,” he noted.
