Iran Press/Iran news: The trilateral meeting in which Iran, Ansarullah Movement and envoys of four European countries, namely Italy, Germany, France, and Britain participated, was held in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Tehran.
According to an Iran Press report, this latest meeting was part of Iran’s consultations and efforts to peacefully resolve the crisis in Yemen. The meeting held at the Foreign Ministry in Tehran was chaired by a top aide to Iran’s foreign minister, Ali Asghar Khaji.
Mohammad Abdul-Salam, spokesperson of the Ansarullah Movement, who heads the Yemeni delegation, as well as heads of four European missions in Iran participated in the meeting.
Participants conveyed the views of their respective governments about recent political developments, developments on the ground, as well as the humanitarian situation in Yemen. Expressing their deep concern over ongoing conflicts in the country that led to death and injury of tens of thousands of people and destruction of Yemen’s infrastructure, envoys demanded urgent action to send humanitarian assistance to the people of Yemen. They also emphasized that the only way forward to resolve the conflict in war-torn Yemen is a political one.
Envoys also asked for the full implementation of the Stockholm agreement and adherence of all parties to it as an introduction to the final political settlement of the crisis in Yemen.
Earlier on 11 August, Mohammad Abdul-Salam, spokesman for the Ansarullah Movement, met Iran’s Foreign Minister, Mohammad Javad Zarif.
In the meeting, the Iranian Foreign Minister called for a quick cessation of war and removal of siege against Yemen.
Stressing on Iran’s support for a political settlement for the crisis, the Iranian Foreign Minister emphasized that Iran always supports intra-Yemeni dialogue and full implementation of the Stockholm agreement.
Mohammed Abdul-Salam and his envoy also met the Leader of the Islamic Revolution. At this meeting, Mohammed Abdulsalam presented a letter from Seyyed Abdul-Malik Badreddin al-Houthi, the leader of the Ansarullah Movement, to the Leader of the Islamic Revolution.
So far, Iran has held five rounds of talks with the four European countries about Yemen. The latest round of such talks was held on March 2019 in Brussels, Belgium. In that meeting, then an aide to Iranian Foreign Minister, Hossein Jaberi Ansari, representatives of the four European countries and Helga Schmid, secretary-general of the European External Action Service (EEAS) participated. 101/211/212
