Iran Press/ Iran news: Speaking to a huge crowd of Friday Prayers worshippers in Tehran, Mohammad Javad Aliakbari referred to the petrol price hike in the country and said it provided the opportunity to the enemies to implement their planned unrest.
"After being defeated numerous times by the resistance led by Iran, the global arrogance tried to drive the country into chaos and exploit the wave of popular protests," he said.
Aliakbari pointed to the US political and diplomatic support for the anti-Iran terrorist group, Mujahedin Khalq Organisation (MKO also known as Munafiqeen) and noted that in the recent riots, the saboteurs attacked ordinary people and security forces in Iran, but the Iranian people held nationwide rallies in recent days, disassociating themselves from the rioters and thwarting the enemies' plots.
The top cleric reiterated: "The Iranian people showed their insight, wisdom, courage, patience, and vigilance in relation to the recent rioting and sedition. They quickly separated themselves from the rioters and showed that they defend the independence of this nation if it is threatened."
Referring to the constant decline and waning power of global imperialism led by the United States, the Interim Friday Prayer Leader said that the Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei's wisdom, tact, foresight, decisiveness, and sacrifice foiled the enemies' plots.
Recent demonstrations in Iran took place after the government increased gasoline prices on Friday 15 November, to implement the fuel price reform plan.
Gangs of saboteurs, trained and backed by foreigners, infiltrated the peaceful protests and caused damage to public transportation and public property. They also attacked banks, shops, ambulances, and emergencies.
The Iranian people, meanwhile, have declared their abhorrence of the violent and senseless actions of foreign-backed rioters, demonstrating spontaneously in many towns and cities throughout Iran.
