Iran Press/Iran news: Speaking to reporters in Tehran on Monday, the commander of the Iranian Army’s Ground Forces Brigadier General Kiumars Heidari said the achievements will be showcased during a military parade on Thursday, on the occasion of the National Army Day.
During the parade, the Iranian Army's Khatam al-Anbiya Air Defense Base will also display the S-300 missile defense system, the domestically-manufactured high-altitude and solid-fuel Sayyad 2 (Hunter II) missiles, Sayyad 3 (Hunter III) missiles, short-range and long-range radars and electronic warfare systems, he added according to Press TV.
The senior commander noted that the Iranian Army will also use its Saeqeh, Raad and Azarakhsh fighter jets and perform aerial refueling operations on Thursday.
Brigadier General Heidari said Iran has achieved self-sufficiency in the technology needed to manufacture armored equipment, armor-piercing weapons, artillery, drones, and helicopters.
The Iranian Army’s Ground Forces plan to sign an agreement with Defense Ministry to get Karrar (Striker) tanks, which constitute Iran's most advanced domestically-built tank that is also among the most powerful tanks in the world, he added.
In March 2017, Iran unveiled its most advanced domestically-manufactured tank of amphibious mobility for induction into the country's armored assets.
The tank’s missile power is boosted with advanced computer technology, laser-guided targeting, and the potential for both the gunner and military commander to aim the projectiles from two parallel gunsights fitted onto the vehicle at enemy targets.
In recent years, Iran has made major breakthroughs in its defense sector and attained self-sufficiency in producing military equipment and hardware despite sanctions and economic pressures on the country.
The Islamic Republic maintains that its military power poses no threat to other countries and is simply meant to deter potential aggressors. The Islamic Republic relies on the doctrine of deterrence.
Several new military equipment and hardware, including the newest UAV named 'Kaman 12', 'Akhgar' UAV missile, 'Ghassed 3' Cruise missile, and 'Shahin' anti-radar system were presented in an exhibition of defense achievements of Iran's armed forces, titled 'Eghtedar 40 on the eve of 40th anniversary of the victory of the Islamic Revolution of Iran.
Iranian officials have repeatedly underscored that the country will not hesitate to strengthen its military capabilities, including its missile power, which are entirely meant for defense, and that Iran’s defense capabilities will never be subject to negotiations. 104/211/209
