Islamabad(IP)- The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan announced that Tehran and Islamabad are determined to maintain the momentum in the development of relations and expansion of bilateral cooperation.

Iran press/ Asia: Coinciding the visit of the Pakistani Deputy Foreign Minister to the Islamic Republic of Iran and the meeting with the Iranian officials, the Public Relations Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan issued a statement today saying: " Asad Majeed Khan participated in the twelfth round of bilateral political consultations in Tehran with the presence of Ali Bagheri Kani, the Political Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Iran."

It is stated in the statement: "Deputy Foreign Minister of Pakistan, while meeting and having a detailed discussion with his counterpart, met with "Hossein Amir-Abdollahian", Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, and "Ahmad Amirabadi Farahani", the head of the Iran-Pakistan Parliamentary Friendship Group in Iran's parliament. He also participated in the gathering of the International and Political Studies Center of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Iran (IPIS IPIS & ICIC, Iran MFA).

The public relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan added: "The two sides discussed a wide range of bilateral relations and reviewed the status of the implementation of the decisions of the last meeting of bilateral political consultations. They agreed on increasing and diversifying bilateral trade and expanding cooperation in the fields of energy, communication, transportation, education, and strengthening people-to-people relations. The two sides also exchanged views on the latest regional developments."

The Deputy Foreign Ministers of Pakistan and Iran emphasized the importance of regularly holding various institutional mechanisms, including the Joint Economic Commission and the Joint Trade Committee, to establish closer cooperation in areas of mutual interest.

The two sides also emphasized their commitment to continue cooperation in international forums, including the United Nations, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, and the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO), and to strengthen dialogue on global and regional issues of common concern.

" Asad Majeed Khan welcomed the normalization of diplomatic relations between Iran and Saudi Arabia. He informed his Iranian counterpart about Pakistan's positions regarding the situation in Kashmir and appreciated the constant support of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the cause of the Muslim people of Kashmir."

He also met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Iran. They agreed to maintain the current momentum of high-level bilateral exchanges and strengthen mutually beneficial cooperation in various fields.

A separate meeting between the Deputy Foreign Minister of Pakistan and Ahmad Amirabadi Farahani, the head of the Pakistan-Iran Parliamentary Friendship Group was held in Parliament and both sides emphasized the importance of strengthening parliamentary exchanges.

It is stated in the mentioned statement: "Asad Majeed Khan met with Khosrow Nazeri, Secretary General of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO), and emphasized Pakistan's support for this organization. He also emphasized the importance of regional communication and the promotion of trade between ECO member countries."

Iran's Foreign Minister Amir- Abdollahian pointed out the special position of Pakistan in the foreign policy of the Islamic Republic and the current level of bilateral and international cooperation in a meeting with the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan in Tehran last Saturday.
